Accessibility at Solfest

Solfest is committed to being an accessible festival for all to enjoy. The location and site poses its challenges given its rural location with its hillsides and green grazing fields but we want to do everything that we can to make the festival as accessible as it can be. In 2023/24 we will be working with Attitude is Everything to help us to achieve this.
Attitude is Everything is a charity whose mission is to connect Deaf and Disabled people with music and event industries to improve access together. Their vision is ‘’a future where music and event industries include Deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people as audience members, performers, employees and volunteers,” Solfest is currently signed up to their ‘Live Events Access Charter’.
If you have any questions please contact the Solfests Access team: Access@solfest.co.uk
If you would prefer to speak to someone send us an email with your name and contact number and someone will happily call you.
Solfest 2023 Free Companion Ticket information
In a continued effort to make accessibility at Solfest as good as it can be we offer free Companion tickets.
If you require a Companion ticket to enable you to enjoy the festival and take part in all it has to offer please click the Companion Tickets link at the bottom of the page and fill in the form. (If you fill in the Companion Form you will not need to fill in the Camping & Live-In form).
Accessible Campsite
The accessible campsite is a calm and friendly space which has stewards providing assistance when you arrive on site and also over the weekend. It is situated next to the main entrance to the arena and close to Welfare, First Aid and Info points. You will be able to park up to 2 vehicles next to this area. We have listened to your feedback and want to ensure that this space has the facilities that you may need. To this end if you would like to camp in the Accessible Camping field it would be helpful if you emailed us to let us know how many are in your group and any facilities that you may need so that we can prepare in advance. We ask that people respect this space and use it for the purpose it is intended. Large groups of friends can not be accommodated. We simply do not have the space. The campsite has Accessible toilets. We can provide electricity for essential medical equipment that requires constant or overnight power as well as Mobility Aid re-charging facilities.
If you wish to have access to our accessible Camping & Live-In area please click on the Accessible/Live-In link at the bottom of the page and fill in the form.
Accessible Toilets
These will be located around the site for ease of access.
Sensory Calm Space
Solfest aims to be a safe and happy place for everyone to enjoy. However, the different sounds, lights, smells and experiences can be overwhelming and over-stimulating for some. The Viewing area is located overlooking the Tarn. The aim of the space is to provide a safe, low-level stimulation for our neurodivergent festival goers, anyone with anxiety or mental health issues and is a space for anyone who wants to relax and enjoy some peaceful time. Our crews have created some beautiful sculptures in this area too. We have a number of other spaces that provide a calm and quiet space with supportive and caring crews on hand should you want that; Healing Area, FLAPS and Welfare tent.
Mental Health Support
We have trained mental health workers in our Welfare and First Aid Team should you want to talk to anyone, get reassurance or require support. We acknowledge that festivals can be challenging at times which is why we have a team that can support you so you feel able to come to the festival and have a great time. Solfest has a lot of space and a wide vista overlooking the Solway Firth providing plenty of opportunity to move away from the more crowded areas. If you are on any prescribed medications you can make the First Aid team aware of this and they will be able to offer safe storage.
British Sign Language (BSL) and Deaf Support
Solfest doesn’t currently have provision for BSL but we are working with local organisations to explore whether this is something we can offer in the future. It would also be great to understand what the demand for this service would be so please email us with your feedback about this. We are working with our Art, Decor and Build crews to develop the visual aspects of Solfest so we can make it a more sensory diverse experience.
